Story & Long Game

How the chirag127 / oriz family came to exist — and how it survives.

ORIGIN STORY

The seed

Started as a scratchpad for personal utilities. Grew into a family of repos with shared branding, shared infrastructure, and shared rules.

The taste

Free-tier only. No card on file. Donations only. Static by default. Editorial minimal design. Every rule captured in knowledge/.

The path forward

100-year lens. Build things that outlive the tools that made them.

100-YEAR STRATEGY · LONG GAME

How the archive survives 100 years without me maintaining it.

Storage

Git primary. Six-mirror strategy: GitHub, Codeberg, GitLab, Radicle, Sourcehut, self-hosted Gitea. Any three surviving preserves the tree.

Format

Plain markdown. Open Knowledge Format frontmatter. No proprietary databases. No compiled artifacts that require a runtime.

Hosting

Static HTML. Free tier on Cloudflare Pages and GitHub Pages. If both die, the git repos still render locally.

License

CC-BY-4.0 for prose. MIT for code. Explicit reproduction and forking rights.

Handoff

Executor with age key, sops passphrase, and a one-page runbook. Encrypted dead-drop.

HONEST QUESTIONS · OPEN PROBLEMS

Things I don’t know the answer to yet — surfaced honestly instead of hidden.

Craft

How do I balance breadth (many small repos) with depth (fewer, deeper ones)?

Business

Is donations-only sustainable at family scale, or does it need a supporting engagement layer?

Life

What’s the smallest set of habits that actually compound? Journaling suggests fewer than I thought.

FAMILY

Private by default — names, faces, and personal details of family members are not published; public content stays at the tool and idea level. Values shaped by family: honesty, patience, long-form thinking, care for craft.
